All you need to know for Goodwood festival of speed

From Thursday 29th June – 2nd July, the famous annual Goodwood Festival of Speed will take place. A place where all motoring enthusiasts from across the globe flock to for a motor fuelled weekend of fun. Now, of course, with such a big event, comes the responsibility of getting organised to ensure that you witness the more spectacular events across the weekend.

An event not only for the car mad but families as well, there is entertainment for everyone over this illustrious weekend. Of course, the first point of call is to ensure you have tickets, be sure you pick the correct ones for you and your family and make all necessary parking purchases for your vehicles.

The journey to Goodwood in itself is an absolute pleasure, surrounded by some of the best roads that England has to offer, be sure to leave early and enjoy your drive down to the site in a fashionable manner.

A festival in all sense of the word, you can camp at Goodwood if you are planning to stay all weekend and as it happens, it’s far more practical than staying off site, allowing you to be encompassed in the festival at all times. Of course, if camping is more your idea of hell as opposed to heaven, then there are plenty of hotels in the surrounding area, not to mention the Goodwood hotel itself which is handily located inside the estate of the festival.

Once the festival is in full swing, you shouldn’t have too much trouble navigating your way around but, of course, being Goodwood festival of speed, there are shuttles available. With the festival being split into two parts, with manufacturer stands on one side of the track and the infamous Goodwood house on the other.

Highlights of this year’s festival include The Michelin Supercar Run, which is set to feature some of the world’s rarest cars; an exciting event for all. For those that get their thrills from hearing the roar of engines, then the Formula 1 race is the perfect highlight moment over the weekend, with the ground-shaking sounds from both V10 and V8 F1 engines; a spectacle for anyone, not to mention car enthusiasts.

Of course, the rally stage is not to be forgotten, to get a great overview of the array of engines at the festival and not to mention, the thrill of watching a rally car rip through nature is as exciting as it sounds. As for any petrol heads that are looking for an up close and personal thrill, take a walk around the paddocks, home to the supercars, where you can occasionally be lucky enough to witness the cars getting their engines fired up for an awe-inspiring roar.

As if all of that wasn’t enough, the list of star drivers who will be tearing through the festival this year is outstanding; from Nico Rosberg, Valtteri Bottas, Jolyon Palmer and former Williams Driver Damon Hill.

Finally, to top it all off, Ferrari is celebrating their 70th anniversary this year and will be bringing along a special fleet of 20 single seater cars to mark the occasion, what an incredible moment to witness!

With such an action packed weekend ahead, Goodwood Festival of Speed really knows how to throw a party, we look forward to seeing you there!
