TAX 1. In one of the first big number plate stories of the year, a registration that has been under ownership for the past 40 YEARS has now surfaced and is being auctioned off. Experts believe that the ‘TAX 1’ registration mark will fetch in the region of £100,000 for the owner, who presumably paid but a fraction of this price when he purchased them.
Though £100,000 may seem a hell of a lot for a registration plate, it doesn’t even come close to the highest selling plates thus far in the UK.
In fourth – ‘1 D’
This plates sold for a huge £352,000, not to a pop super fan though, these plates were purchased before the famous 5 even went on the X Factor.
Third – ’S 1’
Naturally, plates containing the number 1 seem to gather the most interest, this one so much so that it was sold for £404,000.
Almost top – ‘F 1’
F1 has had lots of interest for obvious reasons, apparently the owner Afzal Khan turned down £5,000,000 for ownership. He bought it for £440,000.
Top spot – ’25 O’
The DVLA sold this plate for £518,000. Yes, that’s correct. Though considering it now resides on Eric Clapton’s Ferrari 250SWB, it may have been passed on for a little bit more.
