It’s finally up for sale. Coming out of a short time in hiding, the infamous ‘F1′ plate is back in the news. What was said to be the most expensive plate in the UK is living up to (and surpassing) all that has been said about it.
Afzal Kahn, owner of a number of businesses under the ‘KAHN’ brand name, bought the plates from Essex Council back in 2008 for the now very reasonable figure of £375,000. Clearly though, the successful business man had this exact happening in mind, I very much doubt the was out to keep this plate on one of his many cars for his entire lifetime. And, this without a doubt will be the most he’s made from a singular sale since his beginning, surely?
The sum of money that the plate is expected to gather is huge, though in light of it’s relation to the world renowned Formula One motorsport, it’s probably very affordable to those that are in and around the top seats of the sport. With the likes of Lewis Hamilton earning upwards of £40,000,000 in 2017, and the owner Bernie Ecclestone being valued at £3.5billion, the £14,000,000 price tag for the plates isn’t biting off more than it can chew.
The current record for the most expensive number plate sale stands tall at a proud £518,480. So, if the ‘F1’ plate fulfils its apparent potential, then it will blow the current champion out of the water, and then some.
Is this just too much for a number plate?
