VW pay homage to the original camper.. with the VW ID Buzz!

The new ID Buzz has definitely created a ‘buzz’ in the motoring world, with its retro looks and electric powertrain. It is now available for orders in the UK, with prices starting from around £46,000. For now, there’s a five-seater and a commercial version. However, VW have said 6 and 7 seater editions will come to the UK later on. 

The ID Buzz commercial will set you back at around the £46,000 mark. The five-seater being around £9,000 more at £55,000. Your 55K will get you a Pro edition model, with automatic emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, lane-departure warning, front and rear parking sensors and dual-zone climate control. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto will come as standard, being displayed on a 10 inch infotainment screen. The driver gets a 5.3 inch digital drivers display

The battery is a 77kWh unit, taking just half an hour to go from 5% to 80%, thanks to 170kW charging capabilities. A full battery is likely to get you 260 miles of range, with a power output of 204hp from the all-electric motor.

On the passenger versions, features like the sliding door and upright windscreen are a nod to the original camper, the T2. There’s 11 different paint options available. Both being rather striking two-tone finishes. 

Inside, there’s multiple different finishes you can choose from for the dashboard and door cards. It’s fairly simple, with a bit of a retro feel with the colourways. In the back, you get 1,121 litres of boot space with all 5 seats in place. Commercial versions of the ID Buzz have enough space to carry two, yes two Euro pallets with 3.9m3 worth of space.
