We have customers coming to us daily asking whether they are able to add their own personalised text to the bottom of their number plates. Unfortunately we’ve had to let these people down as DVLA legislation states that we are legally unable to add any text to a number plates reflective front other than our company name, postcode and BS mark. These details have to be displayed by law. This means that people have been unable to add their funny quotes, business name or messages to their number plates. Slogan number plates have been strictly off limits.

We now offer lipped number plates that allow you to have as much fun as you like with your design, giving you even more ways in which to make it bespoke to you. The lipped number plates give the standard 520mm x 111mm UK car number plate reflective that you see on most cars on the road, but also have a 390mm x 20mm black space beneath in which you can have what ever you like.

Are Lipped Number Plates UK Road Legal?

The DVLA rules state that the number plates on your vehicle must:

• be made from a reflective material
• display black characters on a white background (front plate)
• display black characters on a yellow background (rear plate)
• not have a background pattern

This means that our lipped slogan number plates are perfectly legal, you have probably seen them used by many car dealerships and manufacturers in order to advertise, but they are becoming more and more popular with drivers wanting tailored plates. This type of slogan number plate is perfect for individuals and businesses alike. It gives the perfect opportunity for you to give other drivers all important information about your company. Your company name, logo or number could easily be added to get the word out about your work!

Though we are happy to provide you with anything that you can come up with for a slogan, we should say that, ‘if you’re reading this you’re too close’ and ‘ride it like you stole it’ may have been a little bit overused… so get creative, there’s no limit to what you can have!

Can you put a slogan on your number plate?

This option allows you to add any slogan the you wish to you design because the lipped area is considered ‘off-plate’.
