Are number plate stickers legal?

Now although this question my seem broad, it is very relevant as there are many stickers that people put on their vehicle that aren’t legal, and can end up landing them with some fines that they really could do without. All of the number plate stickers that you can purchase from Number1Plates are completely road legal, and have legal use for when you’re travelling in the European Union.  Though this may encounter some changes in the future, as it stands you are required to, amongst other things, display a GB Eurostars badge on your number plates, something that we offer on all of our plates, we also offer 3D gel badges for those looking for something with a luxury feel, or if you just need a badge rather than a number plate. Can you make number plate logo stickers?

Unfortunately, due to issues regarding copyright and trademarking, it would be illegal for us to display number plates with a sticker that could fall under this clause. This means that the likes of vehicle brands, your favourite TV characters or recognisable logos aren’t legally allow to be displayed on your number plates. This is part of the reason that we have had to introduce lipped number plates as this allows for a small space at the bottom of the registration plates considered ‘off plate’. In this area, should you own your own company, or would like to write a short message, then you can have the freedom of displaying it on your number plate!

Will Brexit mean I will need a number plate sticker?

As far as we know, not a great deal will change. Frequently people have adopted the white oval GB sticker to display on their vehicle, though this will be absolutely necessary once Brexit is upon us. Dealerships selling brand new cars seem to be fitting all of their vehicles with registration plates that display the GB Eurostar badge to save the need for buying a new replacement set later down the line, but purchasing a sticker to also display will be a necessity. Don’t leave yourself liable to any unwanted attention when you’re on your travels and make sure that you are on the right side of the law.

Do you need a GB sticker if it is on your number plate?

This really depends on the country you are visiting!

If your number plate includes the GB identifier with the Union flag (also known as the Union Jack), you do not need a GB sticker. But you will need to display a GB sticker clearly on the rear of your vehicle if your number plate has any of the following: a Euro symbol, a national flag of England, Scotland or Wales, numbers and letters only – no flag or identifier.

If you’re in Spain, Cyprus or Malta, you must display a GB sticker no matter what is on your number plate.
